ABCK-AmCham Kuwait’s Data Privacy Policy
Introduction
On April 4, 2021, the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) issued Resolution No. 42, regarding Data Privacy Protection Regulation. Which applies to both the private and public sector operating in the State of Kuwait.
Privacy Statement
This policy deals only with personal information handled by ABCK-AmCham Kuwait; Personal information is information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact an individual, excluding business contact information. The following explains how the ABCK- AmCham Kuwait handles personal information. As the laws in the State of Kuwait change, we will be updating this document as needed. We kindly ask that you check our website regularly.
Accountability
The ABCK-AmCham Kuwait is accountable for all its Member’s personal information under its control. Please note that all Members of AmCham Kuwait (Graduate, Individual, Small Enterprise, Regular Corporate, Chairman’s Club) are requested to indicate on their membership application which type of information may be utilized. Members are entitled to have access to each other’s business information such as business email addresses. ABCK-AmCham Kuwait will never provide Member’s personal information to third parties without prior consent from said Member. Purposes for Collection and use of personal information.
The purpose for which ABCK-AmCham Kuwait collects personal information will be identified at or before the time the information is collected. Personal information may be collected for such purposes as:
-Administering Membership and providing Member services
-Registering for events, for example, the Annual General Meeting; connecting Members to Members (with their consent)
-Processing and administering the above or other purposes, as necessary.
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait will not use personal information for any purpose, other than the purpose identified at or before the time of collection, or for any third-party marketing purposes.
Member Services
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait may collect business contact information from its Members and non-members to:
-Send out newsletters and other relevant information
-Inform members of upcoming events
-Send out invoices and otherwise administer ABCK-AmCham Kuwait membership
This contact information is voluntarily provided by ABCK-AmCham Kuwait members, those who register for our events, or those who wish to be included on our mailing list. Members and Non-Members may, at any time, be taken off our mailing lists at their request to communications@
Membership
The ABCK-AmCham Kuwait may collect personal information to issue Membership cards. This information is included on the Membership Application, and it is also used to invite Members to special events based on their demographic.
Consent
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait seeks consent for all personal information it collects, uses, and discloses through information provided to individuals before collection, or at the time of collection.
If information is voluntarily provided, this is interpreted as consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of personally identifiable information as described in this Privacy Policy. The ABCK-AmCham Kuwait will not use personal information for any purpose other than that for which consent has been provided. Should we require the use of personal information for a new purpose, consent will be sought for that new use.
Limits for Collecting, Using, Disclosing and Keeping Personal Information
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait does not collect, use, or disclose the personal information of individuals except when individuals give consent and provide the information voluntarily. There may be occasions where more specific personal information is necessary for ABCK-AmCham Kuwait to proceed with a request for information, or provide a product or service, for example in cases of Membership, Membership cards, or feedback forms. In such cases, ABCK-AmCham Kuwait will describe the information required. In all such cases, ABCK-AmCham Kuwait limits the amount and type of information collected to only the personal information that is required to provide the individual with the requested information, product, or service. ABCK-AmCham Kuwait collects only information that is voluntarily provided by the individual and undertakes that such information will be kept strictly confidential.
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait does not sell or trade any personal information with third parties. Any personal information that ABCK-AmCham Kuwait retains is kept in such a manner as to always ensure its security and confidentiality.
Safeguarding Personal Information
ABCK-AmCham Kuwait respects the privacy of its members, partners, potential website visitors, and internet users and will protect that privacy as vigorously as possible. Personal information is stored in electronic and physical files that are secure. Security measures include secure locks on filing cabinets and using industry-standard techniques such as firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection, and restricted access to computers. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while ABCK-AmCham Kuwait strives to protect personal information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to it or received from it electronically. This is especially true for information transmitted via e-mail. ABCK-AmCham Kuwait has no way of protecting that information until it reaches it. Once a transmission is received, ABCK-AmCham Kuwait makes its best efforts to ensure its security on its servers. Internally, access to personal information is restricted to personnel who need access to the information to do their jobs. These personnel are limited in number and are knowledgeable about and committed to our privacy policies.
Members and non-Members may request changes to their business/personal information on our database through a written request to the personnel or at communications@
